Hi, I’m David Banales, Founder of Vision Tinting

The road to where I am today has been full of unexpected turns, each one shaping the skills and values I bring to my work.

I grew up in my family’s custom cabinet business, surrounded by sawdust and craftsmanship. By age twelve, I was installing entire kitchens with my Dad, mastering patience, precision, and an eye for detail—values I carry into every project.

In 2009, during a slow season for our cabinet shop, I stumbled onto window tinting. It started with a frustration: sun glare made studying impossible. An internet rabbit hole led me to an idea to go to a tinting school in San Diego. I signed up on a whim and it was a natural fit. Blending my eye for detail with my experience working in homes, by 2010 Vision Tinting was born.

A Journey Through Craft and Connection

Over the years, I’ve worked with all kinds of clients, from the original Snapchat office in Venice to homes with the most beautiful views of Los Angeles. One thing I’ve noticed is that the best jobs happen when there’s a natural connection with the client. It’s not just about the windows—it’s about listening, understanding, and finding solutions together.

In 2017, life shifted. My dad retired, my family grew, and we moved to the Philippines to focus on family. Returning to Los Angeles in 2020, I embraced life as a stay-at-home dad, which gave me a deeper appreciation for life’s details and priorities.

Then, in 2024, an unexpected project rekindled my love for tinting. Helping tint my son’s classroom windows felt like reconnecting with an old friend, bringing back the pride and joy of creating something meaningful. My kids even helped, just like I once did for my dad.

A Fresh Focus for Vision Tinting

Now, in 2025, I’m bringing a renewed focus and years of hard-earned experience to Vision Tinting. For me, it’s always about the details—those small things that make a big impact.

If you’re curious about how tinting could improve your home or workplace, let’s connect. I’m here to listen first, understand your needs, and explore solutions together.

Where It All Began

This photo with my dad was taken in front of a kitchen we installed together. It takes me back to my roots in our family’s cabinet business where I learned the value of craftsmanship, patience, and the importance of small details. These lessons continue to guide my work today.

Honoring and Continuing the Craft

Tinting my son’s classroom windows in 2024 reminded me why I love this work. The joy of solving problems and creating meaningful spaces brought back the same pride I felt when I first started Vision Tinting.
